America the Beautiful
General Information:

The subject of "America the Beautiful" is North Carolina and all the state has to offer. I used Historical sites to include the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, Kitty Hawk (where the Wright Brother brought America into the age of airplanes. Additionally I used key landmarks and geographic regions (Table Rock Mountain, Blue Ridge Mountains, and the Piedmont). I also placed the American Flag and Bald Eagle, with the North Carolina State Bird (Cardinal), the State Flower (the Dogwood). The quilt says exactly what I wanted it to, "America is Beutiful, But; I call North Carolina home".

"America the Beautiful" is currently on display at the Appalachian Cultural Museum of the Appalachian State University, Boone, North Carolina.

Quilting awards received for "America the Beautiful" include.
